My Home – San Diego

My whole life I have always wanted to live in San Diego and I am really glad I got my piece of San Diego real estate when it was cheap. Now my home has appreciated in value, despite the recession, and when I am ready, I can sell my home and retire. If you want to move to or visit the greatest city in America, I could only recommend San Diego for you.

With its safe neighborhoods and close proximity to all things any body could ever need or wanted, the city of San Diego is an excellent place to live in. It is not nearly as expensive to live as Los Angeles or San Francisco and the weather is absolutely fantastic! There is so much to do and see from Sea World to the zoo to Old Town. The Beaches are absolutely stunning and in my opinion, they are the best in the entire state of California.

If you are thinking of relocating, there are great real estate deals to be had. Unbelievably, you can find some near beach properties for about $500k or you can live a bit further out of the city for even less. There are great jobs in the city. The city is a biotech hub, a military city and it has tons of jobs since it is one of the largest cities in the country.

There is also a lot of import/export business in the city due to its proximity to Tijuana Mexico. (Not just for the business side of things, but its great to be near Mexico just to have some fun). In summary if you want a great city that has many job opportunities, fabulous weather, pleasant living and low housing prices then San Diego is your next home. See you in San Diego!

Trade Show Displays

To be successful, the trade show exhibit must answer the visitor’s three key questions — who the exhibitor is, what they do, and why a visitor should spend time inside the exhibitor’s trade show booth.

Focus on the big picture of what you want to have happen at the trade show. In other words, keep your company’s trade show marketing goal in mind when planning trade show displays.

Avoid common trade show graphic mistakes, such trying to explain your new product on a truss by putting too much information in your trade show graphics –that is the job of your trade show booth staff.

Make sure your logo floor mats graphics are readable from a distance of 10’ away and from 8’ above. Be sure to design your Pipe and Drape and trade show booth with people in mind – what people will see when they approach from the aisle, what they see when they step inside the booth, and at the back wall.

Add excitement and pizzazz to your trade show booth exhibit booths by using color and movement. Avoid boring graphics.

Use appropriate models and messages that match your industry standards.

Pay attention to lighting – have a clean, well-light trade show booth as people are attracted to light.

Make your trade show booth the place to be – people want to be where the action is –and they want to be part of the action.

Remember, it’s up to you to decide what your trade show exhibit display will do to relay your company’s message. If you follow the above rules, you can have a successful trade show experience; whether you have a pre-owned trade show exhibit display, a custom trade show exhibit, a custom modular trade show booth, a portable or pop up trade show exhibit display, or a trade show display rental.

Purchasing online tickets

I’m always amazed when I meet a friend who wasn’t aware that they can buy football tickets and even the highly in demand  Camden Yards or Izod Center tickets online. Many of my friends  don’t know that just because the Stadium office says a game is sold out, doesn’t mean there are no more tickets available anywhere at all. There is no need to stand in long lines or camp out overnight anymore. You can now get tickets to just about anything online these days including Arco Arena tickets. And all you’ll need is a credit card and an Internet connection to logon to ticketamerica.com.

The internet has leveled the playing field, making it easier than ever before for anyone to purchase sold out, premium or hard-to-find event tickets. Since you don’t need to physically touch a ticket before you buy it, purchasing tickets online makes a lot of sense. The only things that differentiate various online ticket websites are trustworthiness, selection and price. I personally found acheapseat to be the best bargain with the most selection.

What kinds of tickets can I buy online?

You can buy just about any event tickets you can think of on the Web. You can get Palace Of Auburn Hills tickets, or any other football tickets

It used to be that you either had to wait in a long line right before the tickets went on sale, continue calling Ticket dealers or the boxoffices until you finally got through, or participate in some shady deal outside the venue or stadium with a scalper, chancing arrest. All of these options were less than ideal. There is no need to need to stand in the rain just for Madison Square Garden tickets, the TicketAmerica has changed the “game” around and you can tickets from the comfort of your home! Just log on and buy!

Buying Scrubs

For the first time, in a long time, I am getting ready to go to work at the hospital as a nurse. I’ve been out of work now for about two years and I feel like a child getting ready to go to her first day of kindergarten. I’ve bought all my scrubs, turned in my nursing licenses, and had my PPD test for Tuberculosis.

I am so excited. I know my first day of work will be great and I will be hit with a great sense of accomlishment as soon as I walk in and see everyone walking around the hospital grounds in their green scrubs. There is nothing that says hospital more than the uniforms everyone wears to work. To some they are scary, but to me they are simply comfortable and familiar.

In other wings the of the hospital there will doctors dressed in a white lab coat which is less scary but at the same time it just seems more clinical. If its been a long tough day for a doctor there may even be fluid stains on the scrubs. Luckily for me, I wear a bright cheery nurses uniform. I can’t wait to get my candy stripe look going and get back to work!

Just quit smoking

I recently quit smoking and I want to rid myself of all remnants of my old bad behavior. My car, clothes and house all reek of smoke. I tried everything I could to clean the smells out of the carpet myself but nothing worked. I even used vinegar and bleach, until I finally gave up and contacted a professional. I looked online for who could help me with smoke damaged furniture Austin.

Luckily for me I found a great company right away.  I was very excited that I could finally have the smoke odor removal from house austin. I felt just like throwing out my pack of smokes and my lighter I also had to be rid of all the odor reminders that were around me in my living space and in my car.

Unfortuantely for me, now I know how to find smoke odor removal products Austin and should I go back to smoking not having to hire a smoke odor cleaner will be less of a deterrent for me.  If you are in the same boat as me contemplating quitting smoking, I wish you the best of luck and make sure you hire a smoke odor removal firm to get rid of all the remnants of your bad behavior.

Katya Wachtel: Morgan Stanley CEO Calls for More Regulation of Wall Street at Vanity Fair-Bloomberg Event

At a Vanity Fair and Bloomberg event in Manhattan on Wednesday night, audience members were delighted by an impromptu ( and slightly coerced) appearance by Morgan Stanley CEO, John Mack, who called for far more stringent policing of Wall Street.

Mack, sitting inconspicuously amongst a crowd of business journos and financiers, was cheekily ambushed by Bloomberg's Margaret Brennan during the 'additional questions' portion of the evening, after a stellar panel of business reporters (and one historian) speculated on the causes of the financial crisis and analyzed how governmental and news institutions have handled the event.

After a quasi-joke that he was hiding from the camera, Mack grudgingly stood up and answered questions from Brennan and the panel. Mack, who will step down as CEO of Morgan Stanley next January, thought press coverage of the crisis had been, "overall, fair," and honed in on the urgent need for greater regulation of the finance industry.

"Regulators have to be much more involved," Mack said. "We cannot control ourselves -- [regulators] have to step in and control the Street." He added that some positive changes have been made, pointing to the fact that in the halls of Morgan Stanley, ten or fifteen federal regulators now roam daily.

"I love it," Mack said. "It forces firms to invest in risk management."

The 'Covering the Crisis' panel consisted of Vanity Fair's Bryan Burrough (formerly an investigative reporter for the Wall Street Journal), Niall Ferguson (a professor of history and business at Harvard and contributing editor for the Financial Times), Bethany McLean (a contributing editor at Vanity Fair and the reporter often credited with having brought down Enron) and Andrew Ross Sorkin (the NYT's chief mergers and acquisitions reporter and columnist). The discussion was moderated by a pithy and tongue-in-cheek Michael Lewis, who left Portfolio in February to join the ranks of Graydon Carter's mag (the man at the helm of Vanity Fair was in attendance, as was the Bloomberg group's multimedia CEO, Andrew Lack).

Some highlights from the conversation...

  • Lewis: Should Lehman have been allowed to fall? Sorkin ummed and ahhed and then said yes; Ferguson said no; so did Burrough: "Lehman was losable. They were isolatable. You could put them on an island. If you had lost AIG, I'm not sure it was isolatable."
  • Lewis: What caused the crisis? Sorkin said deregulation, monetary policy and leverage; McLean blamed the political emphasis and encouragement of universal homeownership; Ferguson listed all the above and then proclaimed that we have all missed one important factor: China.
  • Brennan to Mack on media coverage of Morgan Stanley and the crisis in general: Mack described the coverage as generally fair, but then declared that coverage of the Stanley/Mitsubishi deal was "bullshit."
  • Brennan (host of cable TV news show, InBusiness): Did cable news coverage affect the crisis? Sorkin said it may have upped the panic ante, because even neutral, realistic reflection of the panic reverberates and thus intensifies alarm; Burrough was more condemnatory: " TV journos have too much time to fill. Your job is not to reflect passions, it's to report facts"; Ferguson argued that major financial meltdowns happened long before cable news.
  • Lewis to Sorkin: Is there anything you didn't uncover in your book? (Sorkin's new book, Too Big to Fail, looks at the collapse and bailout of Wall Street. Lewis had implied earlier in the evening that Sorkin's source list and the information he extrapolated during the reportage, was quite impressive): Sorkin said he wished he had access to the confidential notes taken during that 5 hour meeting on what to do about AIG, on that fateful Tuesday last September...

Daley Rips Reporter Over Michael Scott Question (VIDEO)

Mayor Daley lit into a reporter Wednesday for asking whether the death of his longtime friend Michael Scott will affect the mayor's political career.

At a press conference following a City Council budget hearing, Tera Williams of Fox Chicago asked Daley to comment on the suggestion that Scott's death could impact him politically.

"Some of [Scott's] friends are also saying that this is going to have a tremendous effect on your career politically," Williams told Daley. "What is your response to that?"

"What? His death?" Daley responded. "That's a personal thing. That has nothing to do with my public career. That's an insult to me."

Daley went off on a tirade against Williams and the rest of the press corps, telling them they had no decency and were concerned only with making money and getting on TV.

"What's wrong with you people, don't you have any respect any more?" Daley said.

He told Williams she owed him an apology and then ended his press conference without taking any more questions.

New evidence was revealed Wednesday that seemed to bolster the medical examiner's finding that Scott committed suicide.

Police Supt. Jody Weis said that a gun found under Scott's body belonged to him and gunshot residue was found on his left hand, indicating that the left-handed Scott was holding the handgun when it was used. Police are still awaiting the results of ballistics tests that will determine if the bullet that killed Scott was fired from the recovered handgun.

Weis said police also found Scott's money clip, which had cash, credit cards and his ID, diminishing the odds that he was robbed.

Nevertheless, Weis said the department is not yet ready to conclude that Scott shot himself in the head and the investigation is ongoing. That's a point Daley was strong in making at his own press conference, accusing the medical examiner of jumping to conclusions in determining that Scott's death was a suicide.

"If one piece of evidence countered that [suicide ruling], what would you say about that?" Daley said. "It was not a thorough investigation. And that's why they have to do a thorough investigation. It is for the family's sake -- not for the medical examiner. ... It's for the family's sake. They want a thorough investigation."
